Circular Economy of Cultural Heritage—Possibility to Create a New Tourism Product through Adaptive Reuse

Cultural heritage is a particularly significant resource in creating tourism. When local community recognizes its cultural (small historic towns, buildings, castles, and forts), it possible to create new value meet the needs of tourists, using principles circular economy. Adapting, reusing restoring sites can contribute revitalization economy by jobs (increased employment), increased spending, economic development, etc. Adaptive reuse, as one economy, represents how pave way tourism products. The three basic sustainable waste management are reduce, recycle (3R). This paper tackles reuse principle analyzing case studies involving application Kvarner destination (Croatia) context resources destination. goal determine what extent makes them useful for community, tourists stay research showed positive examples destination, primarily nature that were achieved last ten years; however, conclusion this still insufficient. By aggregating knowledge results, emphasizes importance applying concept destinations, with special emphasis on role all stakeholders (local self-government, management, population, entrepreneurship).
